Founded in 1816, Pocono Township is known as the “Heart of the Poconos” and the “Keystone of Monroe County.” Located in the geographic center of Monroe County, the Township is home to a diverse business base and major employers that provide incredible value to our region, including Sanofi Pasteur, Great Wolf Lodge and Camelback Mountain Resort. With its key location along the I-80 corridor, Pocono Township serves as a center of tourism, industry and business development.
Pocono Township is a political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania governed by the First Class Township Code. The Township is governed by five elected Commissioners who each serve for a term of four years. The overall operations of the Township are administered by an appointed Township Manager; public safety is maintained under the command of the Pocono Township Police Department Chief of Police; the Road Crew, parks and public sewer system are overseen by the Public Works Director; and the fiscal health of the Township is overseen by the appointed Treasurer.
